Tomato Sauce

Quick, Easy Tomato Sauce

1 yellow onion, chopped

2-3 tablespoons olive oil

2 cups water

1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce

2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste

2 teaspoons garlic powder

2 teaspoons salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon white sugar

1 tablespoon dried oregano

6 basil leaves

  1. Add olive oil to a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion, and sauté until tender, stirring occasionally, about 3-4 minutes. Once onions are tender, add water, tomato sauce, tomato paste, garlic powder, salt, pepper, sugar, and oregano. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer, and simmer for 25 minutes.
  2. Take sauce off burner, and transfer all of the sauce to a blender. Add the basil leaves, and blend until smooth. This can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or refrigerated for up to 3 months.
